ROOF TILES THIN-FILM PV
The technology of solar roof tiles has been on the market since many years ago. In the past, however, it has prevented the technology from becoming popular. From a technical perspective, if there is no adequate ventilation, roof tiles integrated PV runs the risk of becoming very hot. The hotter the PV modules, the output performance will degrade accordingly. Additionally, the lower efficiency level of solar roof tiles requires more space to come up with the same wattage generation as conventional rooftop-mounted PV modules.
Our roof tiles thin-film PV is based on Cadmium Telluride CdTe technology. Comparing to the crystalline silicon, the CdTe thin-film module generates 5-10% more energy on average, as it performs better under indirect and diffuse sunlight. Roof tiles thin-film CdTe PV
Our CdTe thin-film roof tile modules have a temperature coefficient of -0.214%/℃. This means that every 1℃ increment of the module temperature, the output power decreases by 0.214%. Note that the crystalline silicon solar module temperature coefficient is higher, between -0.34%/℃ and -0.49%/℃.
Cadmium telluride is a direct-bandgap material with high absorption layer for the full sunlight spectrum. Under the low-light conditions, at dawn, dusk, cloudy day, or at diffuse sunlight, the CdTe thin-film solar are outperformed compare to the crystalline silicon solar which is made by an indirect bandgap material.
